We are Green Craft

E Pluribus Unum, “out of many, one” is our nation’s motto. The phrase has thirteen letters making its use symbolic of the original Thirteen Colonies which rebelled against the Kingdom of Great Britain and became the first thirteen states, represented today as the thirteen stripes of the American flag. E Pluribus Unum is important because the Declaration of Independence was not only a claim of separation but a commitment of unity. Though the Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal, one-fifth of the population were enslaved people, and one-third of the Declaration’s signers were personally enslavers. The final document does not mention slavery and, through its silence, condones enslavement, but the first document includes a condemnation of slavery. These words, removed before it was finalized, underscored the contradiction between the founding fathers’ beliefs and actions. African American founding fathers of the United States are the African Americans who worked to include the equality of all races as a fundamental principle of the United States. While no African Americans signed the Declaration of Independence, TEAM EPU believes the below African Americans warrant being added to the list of founding fathers:

Our approach

Team EPU understands that we will never fully achieve the results we seek without incorporating an equity and inclusion lens into every facet of our work. It is the moral and ethical responsibility and a top priority for EPU Consultants to help organizations remove systemic inequities, increase opportunities, and implement practices to mitigate the impact of institutions, laws and organizations that value cultural bias. Team EPU works to support employees to value their racial identity and consciousness. Team EPU explores the need for explicit investigation of narratives that counter our normed societal values and stories that whiteness is superior. Team EPU has built a practice grounded in intersectionality theory and mindful inquiry.
